Miffy is an internationally renowned character in a series of children’s books originally created by Dutch author and illustrator Dick Bruna, who has made the rabbit his life’s work.
Dick Bruna is nice and friendly man most of the time. But Dick was mad. Someone did make nasty creations with his Miffy and put them on the interweb.
Bruna and his publisher considered that the use of Miffy’s image was an infringement of copyright. So Miffy went to court.
According to the court in Amsterdam parodies about Miffy which is associated with sex, drugs and terrorism, are allowed. The judge decided that it was obvious that the parodies are humorous of nature and also because of lack of competition intentions and lack of confusion.
