Traveling through Japan can be a beautiful, brilliant experience, and its distinct street art only adds to the aura.
According to Tokyo photographer and artist Remo Camerota, who has documented the manhole art movement in a new book entitled Drainspotting, 95 percent of the 1,780 municipalities in the country have the created original manhole covers to portray their individualized cultures or trades.
The drawings are painted with tree resin and depict everything from fairy tales, local fauna to Japanese manga characters.
